Sustainable Urban Hospitality
Planet Traveler is a sustainable youth hostel situated at the edge of Toronto’s iconic Kensington Market—an eclectic neighborhood known for its vibrant culture and diverse energy. More than a place to sleep, this hostel was envisioned as a contemporary urban refuge that harmonizes Canadian natural heritage with the social dynamism of downtown Toronto.
The interior design and branding were carefully crafted to reflect a fusion of the urban and the natural. Materials, colors, and spatial layouts reference Canadian landscapes—forests, lakes, and skies—while celebrating the multicultural, high-energy rhythm of city life. Furniture, signage, and lighting were custom-designed to evoke this duality, creating a welcoming, youthful environment.

Planet Traveler stands out as Toronto’s greenest hostel:
Geothermal heating & cooling for year-round efficiency
Solar panel installation providing clean, renewable energy
Water heat recovery systems reducing energy waste
Sustainable materials and energy-efficient lighting throughout the interiors
A hospitality venue, and also as an architectural statement on environmental responsibility.
